unraid 7 RC.1 system keeps adding and deleting ipv6 addresses

Featured Replies

1、Disabling plug-ins and docker also has this problem

2、Is this problem caused by the “Outgoing Proxy Manager”? Because viewing the corresponding process in the log shows that it is caused by a special agent

The process is as follows:

root 1687 0.0 0.0 9084 2752 ? S Dec10 0:00 dhcpcd: [privileged proxy] br0 [ip6]

thanks!

yes that is the Outgoing Proxy Manager

see known issues:
https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/release-notes/7.0.0/#outgoing-proxy-manager

Quote

dhcpcd: [privileged proxy] br0 [ip6]

indicates that dhcpcd is running in privileged proxy mode. This happens when dhcpcd is operating as a privileged process to manage certain network tasks securely, especially related to IPv6 configuration.

Why Does This Appear?

IPv6 Management:

dhcpcd is managing IPv6 routes, addresses, and potentially acting as a proxy for services needing elevated permissions (like adding/removing routes).

Proxy Mode Behavior:

It indicates that the main dhcpcd process has delegated specific privileged tasks to a subprocess. This can happen if:

Another service requires network access.

You have dhcpcd running in "proxy mode," which might be triggered by Unraid's Docker, VM manager, or nginx proxy.

Triggered by System Components:

This may be tied to Unraid’s use of Docker, nginx, or even a third-party proxy service like Nginx Proxy Manager.

sadly atm the known issues points to a manual with a dead 404. we will need to wait on unraid/limetech to fix this.

Posted some general troubleshooting in the bug report. may or may not fix the issue. I didn't use Nginx proxy server. The known issues more if you used it or a plugin before the upgrade.

Other troubleshooting in this.

Check Active Processes:

ps aux | grep dhcpcd

*What is using dhcpd and why...

Please post a diag file. this may help in the bug report or other troubleshooting.

?docker network related?

Double check dhcpd on the interfaces:

ip -6 addr show br0
ip -6 route

Disable IPv6 (if not needed)

sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1
sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6=1

*Web UI ipv4 only...
even for a test. This may be a ipv6 issue...

Recreate the RC2 version of the USB stick. And the docker\vm\ plug-in is not installed. After turning on the IPV6 address, the ipv6 address will always be added and deleted.
