March 23, 201214 yr Hi all, I am building my first unRAID server and need some help. I have been testing unRAID with the free 5.0-beta14 version, and everything has been working perfectly including preclear and transfering over 2TB of data to the server. I decided to go all out and get the Pro version from Lime and ordered the unRAID Server Pro USB Flash 2-Pack. When boot from either of the new Flash HP-V165W 8GB drives that Lime sent me, I can not get an IP address. I do get a DHCP IP when I put in my flash drive with the free version. I have tried hardcoding to the MAC address into the router, and I can see that this works with the free version (because I am geting the IP address that I set to be outside the DHCP table), but get nothing at all when I boot from the new flash drives. I have also tried going into the network.cfg file on the new flash drives and entered in a static IP. but it will not show up when I try the "ifconfig eth0" command at the terminal. I get everything else but an "inet addr:". What can I do to fix this? I am using an ASRock A75 Extreme6 motherboard with a single built in NIC. I have added the syslog from the 5.0-beta14, but can not get the syslog.txt to write to the 4.7 version flashdrive. I can see the syslog.txt when I do a "dir" on the /boot directory, but it does not write this file down to the new flashdrive. Thanks!!! syslog5.0-beta14.txt
March 23, 201214 yr Sounds like your nic is having issues with 4.7. I can't tell for sure without the syslog though. If the beta works good for you why not upgrade one of the licensed USB drives? If you decide to go this route take the time to do a complete backup of the USB drive.
March 23, 201214 yr That is a Hudson D3 motherboard. If i recall correctly, That will have a Realtek 8111E NIC. You will have to run beta 14 for stability on that system. I would upgrade one or both of the sticks.
March 23, 201214 yr Author Thank you for the reply's. I have a full backup of both original thumbdrives, so I will try an upgrade on one of them and post what happens.
March 23, 201214 yr Author Ok! I found the instructions here http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_Server_Version_5.0-beta_Release_Notes, but there wasn't anything about moving to a new flashdrive. I ended up copying all of the files EXCEPT config/passwd, config/shadow, and config/smbpasswd as instructed, AND I did not copy config/secrets.tbd. I didn't know if secrets.tbd had anything to do with the PRO1.key. Put the new flash drive back into my unRAID server and it booted right up. I checked from the terminal and I HAVE AN IP!!! Then went to the //tower from my main computer and everyting was there and already started will all 3 of my current drives showing. I stopped the array to make sure that I have all 21 drives available, and I do! Restarted the array and I am currently running a parity check just to make sure. Thank you all for your quick responses and direction. I believe that I will be a happy unRAIDER for quite a while.
