March 23, 201214 yr Hi, I just added the second cable to my Supermicro Add-on Card AOC-SASLP-MV8. I have attached a new harrdrive to the 1st port of the breakout cable (and ofcourse also power). The system boots up without issues. For some reason however the new harddrive does not get "seen", I know the drive is ok, I checked it (its new) on my windows pc before installing it in the system. If someone can help me find the cause for this ? I have attached the syslog. I am using unraid 4.7 with a pro key. I have double checked cables and tried a different break out cable, same result. syslog-2012-03-23.txt
March 23, 201214 yr Author How would I see that ? Does the supermicro card have its own bios and what should I look at ?
March 23, 201214 yr Author Addition: I have 4 yellow lights on the card, indicating ( I guess) that the card sees 4 attached drives, this would mean that the card itself does not see the disk and therefor it is not a wonder that unraid does not see it .. I just moved the two sas cables on the controller, swapped them. This caused the correct drives to appear as unallocated in unraid but no new drives appeared, this would mean that the second port is also ok. My issue now is that this would point to a faulty cable I guess.. I just ordered 2 new Supermicro cables to use (instead of the no-brand one i was using sofar). It is hard to believe both new supermicro cables would be broken. I guess my next step is to swap the good working cable for a new one to see what happens ? Before I do that: Is there a good reason why the following cable would not work: Supermicro CBL-0116L - Seriële ATA / SAS kabel - cross - 4-baans - 7-pens seriële ATA
