Spare drives for minimal downtime?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, so yesterday I went ahead and updated my server and of course it wouldn't boot afterwards. As I scrambled to try to figure out why it wasn't booting and try to implement a fix this made me realize I could just have a separate flash drive to swap out between updates to avoid these types of headaches. The server was down for about an hour, which isn't much, but since my CCTV Server is housed on it, that's an hour of lost footage.

That same night I went and purchased 2 more of the same Samsung drives I had previously purchased since they were so cheap but I wanted to check in, is there a best practice for these spares? Is this even possible without having multiple licenses?

You can have a spare flash drive but will still need to transfer the license first, or would need multiple licenses.
