detect over and over restarting docker containers

Featured Replies

I suggested it to the Fix Common Problems author but no response for a year or so.

Sometimes if a docker update breaks the container or you have some config fault it might happen that dockers restart over and over again, for ever, which is in 99,99% not the expected behaivor. (i know its because of restart unless stopped, but thats not the point)

I would suggest to ATLEAST add some sort of NOTICE to unraid if unraid sees a container restarting 10 times in 5 minutes or something.

A normal user would never notice that there is a loop...

Replying as I am having a network disconnect loop that seems to be being caused by a container restarting every 5-10 minutes and there is no intuitive way of identifying this to resolve the issue. So a tool to identify looping behavior or as OP suggested, a notice, would be fantastic

its the same with some hardware errors (or corrupt errors or what ever there called) , youll just notice if you look into your logs... and it could be so easy like if more then 10mb log in x hours -> something is wrong?

Yeah it’s common sense that these issues should be automatically handed by Unraid

It's simultaneously hilarious and annoying that Lime has no response to this extremely trivial feature request while they are going the full-enshittification route by jacking up unlimited licenses to force users to subscription models for new licenses. At lease with TrueNAS you aren't paying a ridiculous amount of money and when ZFS exists there's really no reason to give Lime any more cash, especially when you're using more than 30 drives. The multiple arrays feature has been "just on the horizon" for about a year now. But I doubt it's going to be a priority when the alternative is to simply buy another license, ergo giving Lime more of your money.

Anyways, back to stop/starting my containers one-by-one until I find the looping container lol.

Can't you just look at the uptime? If the container is actually starting over and over again, then the uptime will reflect that

Yeah, the problem is, who looks at their uptime? xD

If you know something is looping, you find it this way, correct.

Devs dont seem to invest anything in "useability". There are servial minimal tweaks which would help reduce support and make user exp better.
