Can I Do This with Unraid?

Featured Replies

Hi,

So as you can see, I'm very new with Unraid, and still don't use it,

I have some question to check if it's possible to do it.

I want to run a torrent server that will run all the time (when the unraid server is up),

I can throw torrents to it and it will do 3 things,

1. Download it

2. When complete it will transfer to other HDD

3. After transfer it to other HDD it will start to seed it

The other HDD is connect by USB to my NVIDIA Streamer,

because currently the Unraid Server will connect by WIFI (yes I know it's not ideal but for now this is what I can do)

I know it will make every file twice, 1 on unraid server and 1 on other HDD.

Or maybe do you have some other idea how I can seeding it and also watch from my NVIDIA streamer?

Regards.

YES to all, you can have dockers run everything you need and automate that to your liking.

Yest all but you could do better..

You could set it up to have the torent aailable to your Nvidea streamer while still also seeding it, avoiding the need to copy it twice).

You have some guide how to do it?

My solution is good? or there is other solution not to have twice the files?

I think all you need is a single docker for a torrent client & that's all, the torrent is already downloaded to your chosen destination is on your HDD.

if you pair it with Sonarr & Radarr as @Helmonder mentioned, they can transfer your media into their designated folder but will leave a copy for seeding.

or you can just have a windows or linux VM and do whatever you want, its as simple as that

Start with installing RADARR (for movies) and SONARR (for tv shows), they give you all the options for download clients, I used deluge butthere are more options.

Its easy to set up.

As I never used Radarr or Sonarr, I live in Israel and love to also download Israeli TV shows/Israeli Movies, I don't know if these tools have these types of content.

I used Hebrew Torrent Engine, can I use it also and download from their?

Or Radarr/Sonarr don't have have ability to search content?

Regards.

Unraid itself can't use WIFI, but you can certainly set up a gaming adapter to connect to the WIFI and convert it to ethernet so Unraid can use it.

Thanks for clarify it,

What do you mean by gaming adapter?

The adapter will connects to my server right (where the Unraid OS will be)?

That's a term that used to be used to describe a wireless ethernet transceiver, when gaming consoles didn't all come with wifi.

It's a device that joins your wifi network and has an ethernet jack that sends the network traffic to the wired device(s) connected to it.

A more current term is a wireless bridge, but you only need one, not a pair.

Here is an example. https://iogear.com/products/gwu637

It'll seem overwhelming at first, but you'll have it all sorted out eventually and it's easiest to do it right from the start. Also a bit more advanced, but you should attempt to setup hardlinking/atomic moves to keep everything nice and efficient space/time wise, again this is much easier to configure at the start of your NAS rather than convert to it later down the road.
