December 23, 20241 yr I discovered through fix common problems that my parity drive has been disabled. I recently replaced this drive. I ordered several on black friday from Amazon. It looks like I got used drives instead of new. I don't mind used drives in general, but not for backups or recovery drives. I have a few questions as I am not new to NAS / Unraid, but I am not an expert either. Is this a real issue? Is it a replace it now issue, or do I have some time? I have posted the full disk log below; the issue that caught my eye is: 9 Power_On_Hours -O--CK 100 100 --- - 38556 (1,606 days, I've only had it less than a month) 232 Perc_Avail_Resrvd_Space PO--CK 100 100 004 - 100 (Outside threshold) Any help or info you can offer is greatly appreciated. smartctl 7.4 2023-08-01 r5530 [x86_64-linux-6.1.118-Unraid] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-23, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Marvell based SanDisk SSDs Device Model: SanDisk SDSSDH31024G Serial Number: 200949800808 LU WWN Device Id: 5 001b44 8b13ddf77 Firmware Version: X6107000 User Capacity: 1,024,209,543,168 bytes [1.02 TB] Sector Size: 512 bytes logical/physical Rotation Rate: Solid State Device Form Factor: 2.5 inches TRIM Command: Available, deterministic, zeroed Device is: In smartctl database 7.3/5625 ATA Version is: ACS-4 T13/BSR INCITS 529 revision 5 SATA Version is: SATA 3.3, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Mon Dec 23 18:07:05 2024 EST SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. December 24, 20241 yr Community Expert Solution It's logged as a disk problem, but there's no SMART since the disk dropped offline (the report you posted above is from an SSD), check/replace cables for parity and post new diags.
December 24, 20241 yr Author It seems to have answered my question itself. The cables are fine, but the drive has become unresponsive. Replaced it with a spare drive and it is currently performing a parity rebuild. It seems the drive was either defective or died. I was unable to get SMART or any data logs due to the drive failure and being unable to reconnect to the drive. Thank you for your help. Edited December 24, 20241 yr by Eryrok
