Can I write direct to disk after Parity completion

Featured Replies

Hello,

After the completion of parity addition and check, I have transferred files directly to one of the disks on the array.

Do I have to run any Parity update command or rebuild Parity from the ground up?

Do I have to always write to the array for Parity to work automatically?

Thanks

Once you have valid parity in Unraid then parity is maintrained in realtime any time you make writes.

Just to make sure that I expressed myself correctly:

- I copied files from an external USB drive /mnt/Disks/usb_drive directly to /mnt/Disk2

- I didn't see the Parity drive's "HDD drive is doing smth" led blinking

- Disk2's led was blinking

This is why I assumed Parity disk was not involved in the process.

I'm mistaken - Parity indeed works in such case, correct?
