Emulated Mode, next steps

Featured Replies

Hi All,

One of my disk is in emulated mode and i don't understand why: The bios detects the disc, the smart extended test didn't return errors and the xfs repair didn't identified anything. I tried to find the error in diagnostic files but it is to advanced for me.

The disk is recent, so i would like to understand if the problem is in the disk before replacing it with a new one.

Can someone help me?

I'v attached the diagnostics file and the smart test reports.

Thanks in advance

Unraid disables a device if there's a write error, but the diags are after rebooting, so we can't see what happened, since the emulated disk is mounting, and assuming the contents look correct, you can rebuild on top, recommend replacing the cables first to rule that out.

Right now, back up any data that you at all care about. From there I'd update the firmware, PSID reset the drive (this will wipe the disk), blkdiscard it, run a captive long test, then run badblocks to burn it in, then blkdiscard again. This can all be done from Unraid. See if that counter increments of any other "wacky" errors show.
