Boot problem. Server hangs on first try (since a few days)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had 5b14 up and running for several month and I sometimes powered it down for a few hours over night. But since a few days the server does hang on first try to boot and I need to (hard) power off and boot again to get it up and "running".

At the first try to boot I always get something like this:

killing requests for dead queue
No Caching mode page present
Assuming drive cache: write through

and the server hangs

On the second try I get:

... /mnt/cache/ already exists

and after hitting enter I get to the console login and the server is running.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or does this mean one of my drives/usb is corrupt?

Thanks

also, perform a memory check if you've not already performed one.  Bad ram, or bad RAM settings in the BIOS can cause really weird issues.

Hi,

chkdisk reported one filesys error on the flash drive and corrected it. Now the server boots again at the first try.

One thing remains. At the login promt of the console apperas this line:

login: mkdir failed unable to create directory /mnt/cache/ file already exists
