Unable to set up Tailscale in a Jellyfin container on Unraid 7.0.0-rc2

Featured Replies

Hi,

since I could not find a dedicated forum for tailscale within Unraid, I will post my issue here:

I have a Tailnet with all my devices in it, including one of my Unraid servers. I am trying to implement Tailscale into a Jellyfin container (following Spaceinvaders YouTube 'The Ultimate Guide on Unraid'). I activate Tailscale in Edit, give it a name and save it. Now I need to look at the log to get the IP to authenticate the service, but what I get is the normal log that shows the start of Jellyfin, obviously without the necessary link.

I have added Tailscale to 3 containers on the same server without a problem, just Jellyfin resists to show the right log with the link. Is there another way to get to that link? Is there a known reason why Jellyfin would resist? The process is so awesomely easy, that you basically can't go wrong.

Tailscale

Please post the file which is generated by (execute this form a Unraid Terminal, NOT the container Terminal) :

docker container logs binhex-jellyfin > /mnt/user/media/jellyfin.log

(you'll find it in /mnt/user/media/)

In the Jellyfin logs is most likely going on to much at startup so that you won't be able to see why Tailscale isn't working.

@linuxdevil, I've already received the jellyfin.log, can you please also send me the docker run command?

EDIT: I had now a bit more time and tested it myself:

Seems like `which` (a basic tool from Linux) is missing in the container which seems rather strange to me, you have now two options:

  1. Go to the support thread from the container and ask the maintainer to include `which`, maybe @binhex can add it
  2. Use the official Jellyfin container

Thanks for your input. I guess the easiest thing to do is use the official Jellyfin container. Now here is my question: If I delete the container, will my content be still there, given I use the same paths in the config of the official container? I never switched a container in this way.

I think the more obvious thing to do would be to ask @binhex since if you where happy with the container why switch?

I really don't know sorry. But I wouldn't risk it and maybe he can push an update to the container so that `which` is available.

Thank you, I will do that.

Please mark the thread as solved if everything is now working for you!
