April 1, 201214 yr Thanks for drchips and the old school builds I needed. Well after a bunch if not working beers etc. I touched the heat sinks on the my supermicro sata cards and well they were hot, I figured humm maybe that was the issue, as the rebuild started fast then after a day would stop at 1 percent or less. Some beers later I thought maybe heat was the issue (I have a norco case with 17 drives humming along} so I pulled out a 120 and and 80 fan for top and back blowing on the sata cards) well now I am at 4% on the rebuild when I would always time out at less that 1% so not saying that power supply etc is wrong to look at, but check the cooling on your cards. My Norco is a passive cooled case and I never had an issue until I needed to replace/rebuild a hd. So learn from my many beers on a possible fix. HEAT KILLS. thanks will update
April 2, 201214 yr Author life is still good at 8.8% maybe the easiest solutions are the best ones. Just saying. I read the forums and was thinking the worst.
April 2, 201214 yr Author at 20.4% so looks like the fans have done the trick. The heat on the sata cards was killing the rebuild. will up date went rebuild when finished. quite good as I was thinking my server was sol.
April 2, 201214 yr Author well life is now good!!!! Rebuild is finished and the server is up and back to it's old self. Surprising what a couple of fans can do. thanks
