January 6, 20251 yr Nooby !!!!! After a couple of successful Trial setups on different MOBO configs, I'm now looking to embark on the final setup with a purchased Key. Q1, Once booted, can the USB Stick be removed and stored for Future Use if and when required, and If so, how do you safely Eject USB? Q2, Do subsequent boots still need the USB Stick installed, or does the system boot from the Array ? Q3, Will a newly purchase Key come with Version 7 or Version 6 as per my Trial Key which was only downloaded yesterday. Q4, I'm planning to run a unassigned SSD Drive with Windows 11 installed. It works fine by going into the BIOS to switch the boot drive, but can this now be done without issues from within Version 7 Thanks for any advice Robert

USB stick should remain inserted in server once the system boots up. Unraid loads into RAM using the system and configuration files located on the USB stick but any configuration changes are written to the stick. Unraid will complain if the USB stick is removed once the system boots. 30 minutes ago, Bobj1973 said: Q2, Do subsequent boots still need the USB Stick installed, or does the system boot from the Array ? Yes, every boot into Unraid requires the USB stick to be present in the server. 31 minutes ago, Bobj1973 said: Q3, Will a newly purchase Key come with Version 7 or Version 6 as per my Trial Key which was only downloaded yesterday. The licesne is just a key file. A particular version of Unraid does not come with the licence. The license can be used with any version of Unraid you install to the USB stick. 33 minutes ago, Bobj1973 said: Q4, I'm planning to run a unassigned SSD Drive with Windows 11 installed. Nothing in any verison of Unraid should (or could) prevent this as far as I know.

There is a YouTube video from SpaceInvaderOne on how to do it.
January 6, 20251 yr Author Thanks All, for the speedy replies. You've both confirmed what I thought, but wanted to make sure I didn't give myself any further issues, as It was enough having to play around with Bios settings after swapping to a different Older MOBO for the second Trial. Will need to try out the VM option, which hopefully will allow access to the UnRaid Array from within the Win 11 VM.
