Help I messed up!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I think I've messed up.

I have a little server with 2x4tb drives. I decided to upgrade to 2x10tb disks.

I saw spaceoinvader one's video on adding a disk larger then the parity disk and doing a parity swap.

So I added my 1st 10tb disk as a parity 2 drive and did a parity swap, when finished I removed the 2 4tb disks and added the second 10tb disk assuming it would build from the parity swapped disk. It did but only 192Gb.

Now when I try and add the 4tb disks back to the array I get either

Warnings that the 4tb disks will be over written or invalid disk config or the biggest disk needs to be in the parity slot (even if I remove the 10tb disks from the server.

So I need help to get my data from my 4tb disks on to my new 10tb array, or be murdered by my wife.

Thanks in advance.

parity needed at least one of the disk to rebuild.

Please post diag file. you may have lost the data due to unraid super.dat file and how the previous disk were configured.

a more advanced user may need to assist you hear. This is hard to explain and recover from without losing data...

I would use the unassigned disk plugin to connect the 4TB disk and read from it by copying the data from the old disk to the current new disk setup.

@JorgeB thoughts?

Do you mean replace partiy2 or add a new disk as parity2? The latter is not a parity swap.

Assuming you didn't reboot yet, please post the diagnostics.
