Data drive failed, now parity drive showing as new drive, can't rebuild

Featured Replies

I have an array with 1+8 disks, with 4x2TB and 4x500GB data disks. One of the 2TB drives failed and unmounted itself while the array was up. I restarted the whole thing, and the drive showed up as unformatted. I then clicked parity check (I'm quite sure I shouldn't have done this), but cancelled it after maybe 20 seconds and 150-ish MB of progress, and turned the server off while waiting for a replacement drive.

Now that the replacement drive has arrived, I've installed it in the server, powered it up, and I have a red ball by the replaced data drive and a blue ball by the parity drive. I can't start the array or rebuild as it says I have an invalid configuration and there are "Too many wrong and/or missing disks". Is there a way to recover at least some of the information on the failed drive and rebuild, or have I lost that 2TB completely?
