April 3, 201214 yr I've got my "Min Free Space" set at 40000000 (40 gig) on each of my shares but I've been finding that one drive has been filling to capacity. I'll shell into the box and manually move files to another drive and then reset the min free space in admin just to make sure it is taking a new setting and a month or so later I'm finding that the drive is full again. I am running 4.7. Anyone else experience this and if you fixed it what did you do?

Assuming you are writing to user-shares, set the split level correctly (and possibly included/excluded disks) If you are writing directly to the disk shares, it will never use a different disk other than the one you are writing to.
April 3, 201214 yr Author When I move off of the full drive I am of course doing it at the drive level but when I copy stuff to my unraid box it's at the share level via drag and drop from a windows machine. I'm using a split level 1 for all shares. Here's how my shares lay out. All shares span all 5 drives and all have 40,000,000 as the min size. BluRay |_______ moviefile.mkv DVD |_______ moviefile.mkv TVShows |________ Name of Show (Folder) |__________ Show Name.1x1.mkv Music |________ Artist Name (Folder) |_______ Album Name (Folder) |_______ Song.mp3
April 3, 201214 yr I assume you are meaning disk1 is the problem. The settings for the shares you describe all look OK. I expect it's your Photo, backup or misc1 shares doing it. It appears the writes are split between disk1 and disk5 so try to figure out what files are still be written to disk1. Then, look at the file structure of the corresponding share vs the split level setting.
April 3, 201214 yr I'm having a similar issue at the moment. I followed the Un-official configuration wiki for setting up my directory structure and allocation method, but I'm still seeing one drive filling up without using the others. I'm interested to see what the resolution is to this.
April 7, 201214 yr Author Still no luck. The files I am writing are BluRay MKV's and are in the 8-10 gig range. I manually copied a bunch of them to another drive in shell freeing that drive back to 15% and rebooted the box. Things are still being copied to the other drives it just seems to favour that disk one for some reason. When it filled up a while back unRAID started writing to the other drives like it was supposed to, I just don't want any drives to fill because of the delay issue when spinning up. Not sure what the solution is at this point.
April 7, 201214 yr Author I added Disk five last and very recently. It's sort of working like HIGH WATER is supposed to where initially all writes were going to the new drive since it was 100% empty. Very odd..
April 8, 201214 yr I thought your BluRay share would need to be a split level 1. That way the BluRay folder would be copied to each drive, but the folders in it would be located on individual drives. I'm still not sure how unRAID handles files at the split level, though.
April 10, 201214 yr Author Actually my BluRay folder if just full of MKV files of each movie. No folders.
April 10, 201214 yr Author I'm betting it's the "backup" share actually. I've set it to split level 2 and have moved some files around and am hoping this solved the issue.
April 17, 201214 yr Author Changing the split level on "Backup" solved the problem. It makes sense looking at the way crashplan was writing to this share. It creating a folder and requiring all other files to stick on the drive. Thanks for the help, guys!
