Your Setup

Recommended Posts

Just an idea because I'm interested, seems a lot of unraid users are not computer noobs, so I'm wondering what your setups look like.

Pictures would be great, or just an all out detail fest of how your house is teched out. Network, your main PC, HTPC's, just whatever you got that your willing to share,  :D

I'll start with mine, which isn't saying much. I have a very humble setup:

[glow=red,2,300]Network: [/glow]

Linksys Wrt110 Draft Wireless N router

TrendNet 8 port Gigabit Switch

Cat5e run to server, sons bedroom and master bedroom

Router and switch both live behind the main tv in the den.

[glow=red,2,300]Computers:[/glow]

Laptops:

Toshiba Satellite L775D - AMD A6-3420M Quad core with Radeon 6520 Graphics

HP Pavilion G6 - Same specs as Toshiba, just smaller screen

Desktops:

Sons Computer:

This build I can't remember the models so i'm giving general information

Apevia Case

Gigabyte Motherboard AM2 4 SataII ports 1xPCIe 2.0 x16  2x PCI

AMD Athlon 4050E

4GB DDR2 800 Crucial RAM

750GB WD Caviar Blue

Lite-on DVD Drive

400W Antec PSU

HTPC:

Antec Fusion Black 430

ASRock A785GM-LE AM3/AM2+/AM2

4GB DDR2 800 Kingston Value RAM

320 GB Seagate Harddrive

Lite-on Ihas 424 DVD Drive

450W Antec PSU

I'm looking at building another HTPC for the master bedroom, right now I use the xbox 360 to play shows, I rarely ever watch anything in there so its been good enough. The network is temporary as I do not own this house, so I'm not putting the effort into it, it works though.

My sons computer was built a couple years ago, does everything an almost 5 year old needs, serves as his own HTPC right now, hooked up to a 32" Sony LCD TV(720p). My main TV is a 46" Vizio LED LCD TV with internet apps, which I never use but occasionally my son uses netflix on it. Sound system is an old as dirt Pioneer 5.1 system, works great and sounds good, no beating bass though, just enough for you to feel but not enough for you to FEEL. I'll upgrade it one day, just trying to get in my own house first.

Everything is ran from a Logitech Harmony 670 Remote.

As you can tell, I don't keep with the bleeding edge of technology, just too expensive, but everything is decent, techy enough, and works great for what I want. Sure, I window shop a lot and salivate over new remotes and components, but if my 670 works fine, no reason to upgrade.

I'm not putting pictures up because...honestly, none of it looks awesome, the TV looks like a TV, the HTPC is under it. My old entertainment center started to give way so I trashed it and right now everything is sitting on a little one shelf entertainment center waiting for me to build the next one. And Laptops are laptops, no real tricking out there.

Not expecting other posts to be this long or in extravagant detail, but the more the better. I just thought since there are threads for everyone showing off their servers, why not give a little respect to the rest of the setup. The server wouldn't do you much good without stuff to serve!

Well your server seems to be adequate for your needs, a couple test servers, a PC backup server and a media server. Other than the test servers, which I don't really need because I don't know enough about making packages to test them, it sounds like what I need/want.

Right now I have backups going to my unraid server, which doesn't have a name yet. When I have some hobby money built up, I'm planning on building another unraid server to house backups.

I'll look into those jetway mini's, I'm looking for something to run a small-footprint htpc with.
