Seasonic X660 already deactivated?

Featured Replies

The Seasonic X series is Seasonic's newer power supplies. Anyone know why it has been deactivated on Newegg already? I'm after a good power supply like this one. $160 is a lot of money for just a 660Watt, but I hear they are the best out there.

No obvious reason.  It still appears on the Seasonic website, with no obvious replacement.

I am extremely pleased with my X650 (I chose the 650 in preference to the 660, because it comes with more molex connectors as standard).

In use, the supply is totally silent, because the fan only starts up when the total load exceeds 20% of rated power.  This never happens on my system, but may do as I add further drives, but only during parity calculations.

I had no idea the original X series was silent also? Very nice. I did hear through the grapevine that the X-series may phase out while the new Platinum's are coming. Seasonic already has two of them being sold now. VERY expensive. After Platinum there is the last but not least Titanium. I don't think anyone is making those right now. I did spend $600 on a processor and over $300 on the mainboard, so what is a $200 power supply gonna hurt except my wallet!?
