January 10, 20251 yr I installed a new Nic I am trying to set up. it is showing up at eth121 it is showing up as "not configured" for the interface description it is not listed under interface rules to set as eth0 I would like to make it eth0. here is the amazon link to the NIC: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D87439N7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 I can set it as part of a bond but that breaks my connection. I have link lights on the switch logs and a screenshot attached. mediaserver-diagnostics-20250110-1041.zip
January 10, 20251 yr Community Expert Try deleting/renaming /boot/config/network-rules.cfg and reboot.
January 10, 20251 yr Author Well now things are even weirder. I now have eth0 ,1 ,and 2 however eth 1 and 2 have the same MAC no signs of the new NIC I attached the new diagnostics mediaserver-diagnostics-20250110-1132.zip
January 10, 20251 yr Community Expert Solution Try again, but this time also delete/rename /boot/config/network.cfg (LAN settings will go back to default DHCP)
January 10, 20251 yr Author It came bridging eth0 1 and 2 in active backup That time eth1 and eth2 both have the new nic mac address the new nic is still not available to assign as eth 0 only the onboard nics
January 10, 20251 yr Author Well it is assigned as eth0 now but i didn't do anything to change it. So I guess it is working. I really appreciate your help. for anyone that comes to this post after me: My router was still showing the old static assigned IP as active even when it wasn't. Refreshing it eventually cleared and I found the new assigned DHCP address and was able to connect again through the web interface.
January 10, 20251 yr Author sure. I attached with it working. mediaserver-diagnostics-20250110-1440.zip
January 11, 20251 yr Community Expert Network-rules.cfg was not automatically recreated, this is why you cannot change eth0, this sometimes happens with some hardware combinations, unclear why, but if it's working as you want, I would just let it be.
