Unraid crashing overnight - Syslog Attached.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I've been experiencing an issue that is seemingly random. Sometimes my Unraid server crashes overnight. I notice in the morning usually when I go to try to use Plexamp on the way to work, or if my lights don't turn on via my Home Assistant VM. When this crash occurs, the machine is still on, but my WebGUI is inaccessible, as is SSH.

I enabled syslog, and have attached it. I barely know what I'm looking at, but I think I was actually awake for this malfunction and I believe it happened sometime around 5:06AM based on the activity of my HA VM.

Any thoughts as to what looks to be causing my issue?

Unfortunately, there's nothing relevant logged, this can also be a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one, including the individual docker containers.

Thank you for your reply. I do appreciate it. One thing I didn't mention is that this started occurring after I replaced my flash drive. Could the flash drive be among the hardware causing a fault? Or is that unlikely?

Flash drive issues can crash the server, though usually, when that is the problem, there are traces in the log.
