Amarok or similar on unraid ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I think I know the answer but I want to be sure: Is there an "Amarok" like took for unraid systems ?  I am asking because I would like to have a process running on my unraid system that will be able to serve my mp3 files to my (apple and other) devices. At the moment I have my music files on my unraid system (ofcourse) but I need to keep my pc running with an open itunes to access them (I find this is a very dirty solution apple-side by the way).

Amarok will most definitely not run on unRAID. It requires a great deal of the KDE libraries that are just not present in unRAID.

However there are other alternatives  that work beautifully.

mt-daapd presents itself as a remote iTunes library and can be installed on unRAID

subsonic is a great streaming application that can stream to multiple clients

Airplay is another one that folks her use

And you could fallback to UPnP services like ps3mediaserver or twonky

I use Subsonic for my Android phone and my iDevices. Works pretty well I must admit ;)
