January 11, 20251 yr Recently my unRaid server has been crashing almost every day. I could use some expert advise in order to fix this issue. This morning it crashed at 0457 hrs. I am including the SYSLOG from 0000 - 0457. UNRAID: 6.12.14 SyslogCatchAll-2025-01-11.txt Edited January 11, 20251 yr by rpscuba
January 11, 20251 yr Author If I need to provide any additional details please let me know. I read in the support forum FAQ and understand that the SYSLOG is the holy grail, so I installed and connected Kiwi Syslog a few days ago for the occasion. I am a novice at these things, and usually follow youtube videos step-by-step for everything I do on the server. So if you have the patience to baby step me through this quite troubling issue I would be extremely grateful. Edited January 11, 20251 yr by rpscuba
January 12, 20251 yr Community Expert There appears to have been an issue with the NIC, but there's a call trace before, post a new syslog after the next crash to see if it's the same.

What is the best way to determine what hardware is at fault? Please and thank you!
January 16, 20251 yr Community Expert Difficult to say, start by running memtest, or since memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.
January 16, 20251 yr Community Expert Nothing relevant logged that I can see. P.S. unless you are troubleshooting a mover issue, I would recommend disabling mover logging.

January 17, 20251 yr Author A bit off track, but kind along the theme... hardware. I am thinking about upgrading my case to something like (if not exactly) this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284052096788 My current MB is an ASUS Z690-A Prime DDR5 Intel LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard with the Intel Core i7-13700K Raptor Lake 3.4GHz Sixteen-Core LGA 1700. I have seven 10 TB SAS Drives running off of a couple of HP 660088-001 H220 HOST BUS ADAPTER - 650933-B21's - as well as 2TB NVME and a few other SATA SSD's. I intend to move all of these items to the new Supermicro chassis as necessary. My main question is about the included BPN-SAS826-2PT direct attach backplane and how it will connect to the MB? Do I need to keep both of my HP Host Bus Adapters and connect them to the new backplane? Since I have not built anything like this yet, I really don't quite understand how it all works with this type of configuration. Additionally, if/when I load my existing drives into the new chassis do my SAS drives (all drives for that matter) need to be connected to the new backplane in a particular order or sequence so that my 1 parity and 6 other drives in the array come back to life and function normally - restoring my data, containers, vm's and such like they exist today? Or does Unraid know the drives by serial number or something - regardless of their connection address? Thanks for all the help.
January 17, 20251 yr Community Expert The direct attach backplane if for the 2 x rear 2.5" drives, the front backplane has an expander, so one or two wide links can be used from the same HBA.
January 17, 20251 yr INTERESTING! How did you create those catchall logs? do you use fritzbox products? Edited January 17, 20251 yr by NewDisplayName
January 19, 20251 yr CAN ANYONE explain how to create "Syslog catch all"...? Maybe that way i can find out why my servers keep freezing / crashing what ever
