January 14, 20251 yr Hello there, I'm using Unraid for a long time now and its grown from HDD with more and more different SSDs. Now the Unraid Server is SSD only and before I upgrade to 7.0 I have read that for SSD I should change to BTRFS or ZFS from XFS which is present. All SSDs are in the array I have no parity and no cache. Today I've read thats not ideal, so what would be the best way to change to a SSD friendly configuration with as little downtime as possible? I mainly use User Shares but each one on a specific disk, some Dockers (Nextcloud with its own strage), VM and so on... I would like to keep it as simple as possible, I dont really want a raid or Cache drives. I know thats not the way Unraid is meant to be used... maybe someone has an idea? Best regards Ralf
January 14, 20251 yr The main disadvantage of using SSDs with the array is that TRIM doesn't work, you could assign them as individual pool instead, or if performance is adequate, just leave them as they are for now.
