January 15, 20251 yr I'm kinda kicking myself for not doing it in the first place, but oh, well, better late than never, I guess. My questions are mostly about a) how to properly change file systems so nothing gets broken, and b) the proper way to set up the "top" share. I currently run all non-media shares on my NVMe cache pool (x2 500GB), and my media is stored solely on my HDD array. I'd prefer that all permanently-stored media remains on the HDD array, since my cache pool can't properly store everything I would like to have seeding; as far as I know, I can't set things up so that things are moved to the cache when they start seeding, and move back when they aren't (since the files are still in use either way), so I guess in my case I'd just have the app run on the cache, and the files stay on the array, correct? Should I, then, use the cache-less setup in TRaSH, or just use the cache option, and manually stop/start torrents after invoking the mover when I start to run low on cache space? In terms of preventing "breaking", I'm assuming I should just stop all the apps that will be affected, fix the container paths while stopped, and then start them back up again when they're pointing to the proper paths again. Is there anything else I should expect to have to fix besides just docker paths? Is there any particular process I should use when moving files from one share to the other to avoid data loss?
January 16, 20251 yr Community Expert can you post the guide ... Which one are you referring to, the main? https://trash-guides.info/File-and-Folder-Structure/ in theory, stop the docker move files and set folder hierarchy and then edit dockers to new paths... this depends on if you are using the fuse path and have share disk setting for 2nd storage for disk array and mover. if you using disk shares over the symlinked fuses share or the hardlink shares. Idealy the media content should be on the HDD and on the Large storage medium. While you can try using cache disk first then move to HDD. this creates extra disk thrashing and unnecessary performance, and makes it easier for corruption... review: and Edited January 16, 20251 yr by bmartino1 Data - Typo
