Parity sync activity almost nil

Featured Replies

I’ve been scouring the forums about slow parity sync issues always relating to disks and controllers which I get and I’ve been trying to diagnose those areas but even my cheap disks and controllers seem to move data consistently.  Maybe not super fast but over 100MB/s.  I watched the throughput during parity sync and it seems to go in small bits at a time where data moves read/write for a sec the. Drops to 0 for a few seconds then moves again.  Totaling sync throughput is under 2MB/s.

Does this activity seem normal?

CPU is barely working

Ram is barely used

Check/replace cables for parity and disk5 and try again.

Exactly this.  First tested the controllers and disks by moving the Sata do a different controller and port.  Still slow parity.  Swapped Sata cables and boom!  Back to normal.  Now how does one determine where to buy “good” Sata cables?
