SMB Shares won´t show up in Windows Clients anymore after upgrade to UNRAID 7.0.0

I'm thinking of setting up my server from scratch with a fresh installation. Keeping my data on the array and just wiping the cache drives that store the app data etc.

But I'm a bit reluctant to do this, as I could possibly go to all that trouble and still have the same issue.

I'm very disappointed in Unraid at the minute.

  • Can we merge these threads?   Also, I can confirm Unraid 6.12.14 is working fine with Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (OS Build 19045.5371) and Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2894) on my network an

  • I think I can duplicate this issue sometimes with one of my servers, i.e., the server disappears from the network neighborhood after array start sometimes, it comes back when the array is stopped, loo

  • Yep, that's what I also see, it shows up after boot, then it goes out briefly during array start, and for me sometimes it comes back after it starts, others it doesn't, I've already brought this to LT

It's not really a good workaround for me, as I would have to do this on every customer's computer.

You only have to set up the shortcut (or the folder if you have more than one server) once.  You then copy the shortcut to a flash drive.  Then copy the shortcut from the flash drive to the desktop of the customer's computer and click on the 'Pin to Quick Access' in the Right-click dropdown.

If you don't want it on the Desktop, put it in a Folder somewhere in the file system.  The right-click 'Pin to Quick Access' is still available.

I would not be surprised if the Management Tool used by large organizations could do this with a script as a normal software update.

Granted it is an extra step but it always works!

Just want to add I have this issue as well. ever since 7.0. Unraid is on 7.0.1 and windows is on 22631.5039. Using workgroup and WSD enabled

Anyone having this issue please try upgrading to 7.1.0- beta.1 and retest

I can report it's working for me now after upgrading to 7.1.0-beta.1.  Appreciate the update!

Right, I have solved the issue on my server anyway.  I decided to disable docker in settings, and my server then appeared on my windows network. So then obviously a problem with the docker settings. I had to disable (Host access to custom networks) and now I can see my server on my windows network. Everything seems to be working as normal with this disabled.

Thanks, can you confirm if you also have Host access to custom networks enabled in Docker?

I rolled back then updated to the stable 7.0.1 version. and made sure (Host access to custom networks) was disabled as in my last post. i can confirm that everything is functioning normally and I can see my server in windows Network panel.

You didn't test with 7.1.0-beta.1 right?

I did test with 7.1.0-beta.1, and I had to disable (Host access to custom networks) in docker settings for my server to appear on windows network.

I'm experiencing a similar issue after upgrading to 7.1.2, with NetBIOS disabled and WSD enabled.

Most of the time, the device can be discovered, but it appears very slowly; sometimes it can't be found at all.

Both of my Windows 11 PCs (one running version 23H2 and the other 24H2) are encountering the same problem.

The issue was resolved after I downgraded Unraid to version 6.12.15, now it appeared instantly.

Came here with the same issue. I'm on 7.1.2, updated yesterday from v6.something, and today I don't seem to have the server in windows network anymore. I also can't find it by looking for \\server-name anymore.

I can find it by using \\server-ip so that's fine at least, but it's a bit of a pain.

I'll try turning off the docker option of host access and see if that fixes it but that may not be a long term solution if it breaks other functionality with my containers (I have no memory over whether it was needed for any of my containers or custom networks).

Same issue with 7.1.4, on multiple hosts running w11.

I'm not doing lots of SMB browsing so I do not really mind, in the meantime I pinned the unraid host in the windows explorer.

Do we have a sense if Unraid is working on this?
I'm on 7.1.4 and having the same issue.

To attempt a fix I turned every sharing security option to the most permissive on the Windows host itself.

The share is set to Everyone > Full Control, and Windows Advanced Sharing Settings are set to everything on for Private Networks, with Public folder sharing ON and Password protected shaing OFF in the All Networks section.

I even updated the registry with the following which had worked for some people.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters]
"AllowInsecureGuestAuth"=dword:00000001
"RequireSecuritySignature"=dword:00000000

I believe LT is still looking at this, but they have been unable to reproduce for now.

The easiest way to resolve this is usually to disable "Host access to custom networks", if enabled and not really needed.

7.2.1-rc.1 is out, and it should finally resolve this issue, please retest.

Hi,

I had the same issue and 7.2.1-rc.1 definitely solved it.
Unraid does appear in the Network tab while "Host access to custom networks" enabled.

Many thanks!

7.2.2 fixed for me. Thanks!

Fixed for me as well. 👍
