Hello tout le monde,

 

J'ai actuellement 2 VM Gaming qui fonctionnent parfaitement bien.
Les deux ont une GPU dédiée RTX 2070 Super et RTX 4060 Ti

 

J'ai récemment fait l'acquisition d'une RTX 3080, donc je l'ai mise en lieu et place de la RTX 2070.
Mais c'est une catastrophe, tout rame énormément, sunshine n'arrive même pas à initier une connexion, je n'y arrive que difficilement par RDP.
Et dans Win11 rien ne sature et pourtant tout est ultra-lent.

J'ai tenté de dump le vbios comme l'explique si bien SpaceInvaders One. Ça semble légèrement mieux, mais ça reste complètement inexploitable.

 

J'ai inversé les slots de Pcie avec la RTX 4060 Ti : aucun changement.

J'ai refait à zéro la VM et même résultat.


Je ne comprends pas et je ne sais pas quoi faire de plus.
Si vous avez une idée pour m'aider ?

T'as pas un soucis d'alimentation ? Parce qu'une 4060 et une 3080 ça doit pomper non ?

Non j'ai une 1000W et puis j'ai aussi testé juste avec la 3080 en débranchant la 4060

Ok, ça fait longtemps que je n'ai plus de VM, mais j'ai tourné pendant quelques temps avec une 3090 TI, je me souviens avoir pas mal galérer au démarrage mais c'était un plantage complet de la VM pas des ralentissements, j'ai comparé ma conf de l'époque avec la tienne sans trouver de différence flagrante.

 

 

Et si tu lances un dmesg sur ton serveur unraid il n'y a rien de problématique ? Tu peux faire un export ?

Idem avec un top/htop, est-ce qu'il a un process qui bouffe tes ressources ?

Alors j'ai encore tout repris de zéro.
Je recrée tout la VM. Avec le GPU virtuel en VNC tout est parfait et fluide.
J'active le RDP et j'alloue la RTX3080 dedans. Là impossible de faire fonctionne RDP avec une erreur graphique.

Là j'utilise les lignes xml supplémentaire de ton post : 


À ce moment-là impeccable, j'arrive à me connecter à la VM en RDP. Mais c'est à ce moment là que le comportement est très étrange car à ce moment là, la VM est ultra fluide aucun souci.
Mais dans la périphérique, elle n'est pas reconnue en tant que tel, elle a un nom générique. Puis quelques seconde après ça y est le nom générique se transforme en Nvidia RTX 3080. Et pile à ce moment-là la VM rame à mort, elle est super lente, j'ai un décalage quand j'écris au clavier, les fenêtres mettent 3 plombe à s'ouvrir etc...

Je télécharge quand même les pilote Nvidia les install, mais rien n'y fait ça ne change rien au problème. Reboot et pareil...
Et je garde la fenêtre de Gestionnaire des Tâches ouverte pour observer, mais absolument rien ne sature.
J'arrive à faire du RDP mais Moonlight par exemple impossible... La session tombe en erreur à force de mouliner...
 

Dans mon cas le problème était due aux limites de OMVF, au Resizable BAR et bien sur au 24Go de ram de ma CG.

Il me semble que ta 3080 doit avoir 10/12 Go max ? Donc pas de raison que ça soit ça.

 

Cela dit tu peux aussi essayer de désactiver le Resizable BAR dans ton BIOS pour en avoir le coeur net.

Oui c'est au moment au Windows 11 détecte la CG et installe les drivers nvidia que ça foire, le driver générique "de base" doit bien fonctionner (en tout cas assez pour afficher le bureau) mais dès que tu passes sur un driver à jour ça plante.

Regarde côté serveur sur unraid, tu auras peut être plus d'infos. Si la VM n'affiche pas de charge mais que ça rame, c'est peut être que côté serveur il n'arrive pas à allouer ce qu'il faut comme ressource. J'ai déjà eu ce phénomène.

 

Il y a plusieurs traces/logs à regarder sur unraid : top ou htop dans une console pour voir ce que fait le cpu.

dmesg depuis une console et évidemment /var/log/syslog

 

Tu peux aussi faire un diagnostique https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/troubleshooting/diagnostics-information/ lorsque ta VM tourne et le poster ici.

Dans tous les cas, merci bcp @hot22shot de prendre le temps pour moi. C'est très gentil de ta part.
Alors voici déjà un premier jet de test.
Dans ce serveur il n'y a que 2 VM Gaming dont une qui fonctionne nickel avec la 4060 et un seul Docker (Un serveur de jeu ARK).
C'est celle nommé VM-GAMING1 qui pose soucis

De rien, on a tous galéré un jour.

 

top montre environ 800% d'occupation pour qemu, ça correspond à 8 coeurs qui moulinent à fond.

Tu pourrais avoir + de détails en appuyant sur 1 dans top, ça te donnera le détail par core et par type de charge, par exemple sur mon serveur :

Connaitre le type de charge (us/sy/...) sur les coeurs permet éventuellement d'orienter sur la provenance de cette même charge.

 

Quelques pistes en vrac :

- essaye de désactiver le resize bar dans ton bios si ce n'est pas déjà fait.

- essaye de baisser le nombre de coeur de ta VM, avec 6 coeurs par exemple.

- tu pourrais aussi essayer une vm linux avec la même cg, même si j'avoue que ça ne t'avancera pas sinon qu'à prouver que c'est un problème purement windows (ce qui semble être le cas).

- peux-tu essayer en enlevant la ligne <watchdog model='itco' action='reset'/>, je ne pense pas que ça soit la cause de tes problèmes mais ça ne te sert pas de toute façon (Libvirt has the ability to configure a watchdog device for KVM / QEMU guests. This device can be used by the guest OS to automatically trigger some action when the guest OS hangs/crashes.)

après pour la charge du processeur, je suis un peu sceptique. Car je t’ai montré au moment où je veux m’y connecter après, il n’y a plus du tout de charge pour autant ça rame quand même.

Une autre piste aussi : as-tu déjà testé avant de faire la migration en 7.0.0 ?

Non j'étais déjà passé en 7.0.0
Et les deux VM fonctionnaient toujours parfaitement bien dans cette version avec les deux autres GPU

Je ne connais pas le resize bar. Faut que je recherche la correspondance dans le BIOS de la CM.

Quelques pistes à creuser :

  • D'après ton fichier de diagnostique ton share system est "Share exists on cache, disk1" vérifie que libvirt.img est bien sur ton cache et pas sur un ton disk1 qui je suppose est plus lent. Mais j'ai peut d'espoir car ça laguerait direct.
  • Une question : as-tu essayé de démarrer Windows 11 en mode sans échec ? Le test pourrait être intéressant, car si ça fonctionne correctement cela pourrait mettre en cause directement les drivers nvidia puisqu'ils ne sont alors pas chargés il me semble.
    • Si ça fonctionne essaie de downgrader le driver nvidia.
  • Les logs libvirt mentionnent la même erreur plusieurs fois : error : virNetSocketReadWire:1781 : End of file while reading data: Input/output error  

        Ce post suggère de créer un nouveau fichier libvirt et de récréer les VMs :

@hot22shot J'suis un c... sur ce serveur j'ai pas fait gaffe que le share "system" avait son second storage dans l'array. Donc oui effectivement le libvirt.img était dans le disk1 bien vu !
J'ai modifié le share puis j'ai mis en disable le service VM et lancé le Mover. Le libvirt.img s'est bien remis dans le cache et j'ai tout relancé.
Mais... même problème.

Je ne sais pas comment démarrer WIN11 en mode sans échec via une VM. 😰 Car logiquement faut appuyer sur F4 avant le BIOS, mais là avec un GPU, il faut attendre à minima RDP de UP.

Je vais tenter de recréer un libvirt.img pourquoi pas oui. 1Go proposé de base suffit ?

J'ai déjà eu le soucis il y a longtemps avec mon docker.img, et puis j'ai vu un poste qui a eu ce problème suite à une migration en 7.0.0.

La méthode 2 permet de forcer le type de démarrage de windows, par contre attention il faudra te connecter avec ton mot de passe (et pas un code).

 

1G c'est largement suffisant pour libvirt, le tout est qu'il ne soit pas sur un disque lent.

@hot22shot impossible de prendre la main en mode sans échec, car malgré avoir coché "réseau", l'agent ne démarre pas.

Du coup j'ai remis "virtual" dans la carte graphique pour m'y connecter via VNC et vérifier. Mon étonnement est que le réseau est bien up avec la bonne ip privé en plus...
Donc je ne pige pas... :D 
Tout est super fluide en virtual graphique c'est rageant lol

J'ai supprimé les VM et supprimé le libvirt.img.
J'ai tout recréé, mais c'est toujours pareil...

L'agent doit avoir besoin de ressources qui ne sont pas chargées lors d'un démarrage sans échec.

 

Je me doutais du résultat avec la carte virtual/vnc, c'est l'installation des drivers nvidia qui provoque ton ralentissement.

Par contre difficile d'en savoir la root cause.

J'ai fait quelques recherches et on trouve quelques situations similaires, mais plutôt sur linux.

 

C'est pour ça que je te suggérais d'essayer avec des drivers plus anciens.

 

As-tu regardé le journal des évènements de Windows 11 ? Il y a peut etre quelque chose à voir la dedans. Si les drivers nvidia posent problèmes il y eu peut etre une trace quelque part.

Je vais commencer par essayer d'activer le Resize Bar, car je l'ai activé dans le Bios mais pourtant ça semble ne pas se faire...

Il semble que le problème soit similaire ici

Et donc driver désinstallé. Je vais tenter, mais moi le problème est arrivé dès que la carte "générique" est passée en RTX3080 reconnue et avant d'installer les driver Nvidia

@hot22shot C'est bien ça, ce sont les drivers Nvidia qui foutent la m....

J'ai tout désinstallé et c'est super fluide, plus aucun problème.
Par contre, obligé de dump le vbios sinon pas possible de se connecter avec RDP

Le souci étant c'est que sans Drivers Nvidia je ne peux pas utiliser Moonlight ou autre et je ne peux pas jouer.
Un peu contraignant pour une VM Gaming LOL.

On progresse déjà :)

En fait, je ne suis même pas certain que la GPU soit utilisée là... RDP a probablement switch sur une carte virtuelle non ?

J'ai finalement fini par trouver avec l'aide de @waazaa !
Problème d'interface clavier/chaise :D :D 
 

La carte ne rentrait pas dans le boitier, elle est vraiment trop longue. Alors j'ai utilisé une nappe que j'avais d'extension de PCie. Et pour moi, elle était OK, car je l'ai test dans le doute avec la 4060 Ti dessus et c'était nickel. Oui, sauf que cette nappe est PCIe GEN3 !!! Et la 3080 elle est GEN4 et elle n'a pas aimé ou su s'adapter comme la 4060.

Donc j'ai forcé le port en PCIe GEN3 dans le BIOS.

Tout ça pour ça... :(

 

J'ai commandé une nappe Gen4 du coup mdr. :D
