January 16, 20251 yr Hey everyone, May 2022 I assembled a new physical machine to host my unRAID drives and flash drive. After that upgrade, every time my device shuts down, whether it be intentional or power failure, or even a manually initiated restart from the GUI, unRAID will not load unless I unplug the USB stick and plug it into another port while it's shut down. Even if I unplug it and plug it back in, same issue. I left it off for 18 hours (power outage, had no choice :D) and still after that I had to unplug the USB stick and move it to another port. The same USB stick worked on the previous hardware fine. In May 2022, I thought surely this was something with the mobo needing a firmware update, finally did that yesterday, same issue. I also upgraded the USB stick thinking maybe that it was going bad since the old one was 14+ years old, same issue. I set my syslog to write to my flashdrive, did not see anything in there. Parity is currently being computed so if I need to do some steps and get fresh logs of this again let me know but I will need some time for that to complete. I am not sure diagnostics would be helpful here, unless there's some specific step you all want me to do before gathering the logs again let me know what those instructions are, but if I have to reproduce the issue again, will have to be after parity completes. I can't remember if I can reach via SSH to be honest, if that's a test you all want me to do next time let me know. Summary of tests: 1. Shutdown/reboot/power failure 2. turn machine on without moving USB stick Result: unRAID won't load. Cannot reach webGUI. 1. Shutdown/reboot/power failure 2. turn machine on AFTER moving USB stick Result: unRAID will load. 1. Shutdown/reboot/power failure 2. turn machine on before moving USB stick 3. turn machine back off 4. turn machine on AFTER moving USB stick Result: unRAID will load. 1. Shutdown/reboot/power failure 2. unplug USB stick and plug back into same port 3. turn machine back on Result: unRAID won't load. Cannot reach webGUI.

January 17, 20251 yr Community Expert Along with what Vr2lo suggest, look at disabling secure boot, TPM 2.0, and CSM while you are in there. Check if there is a BIOS update as well.
