Does anybody know if this plugin will work with Giganews vypyvpn or their openvpn addon? Could you share a how to? Found vyprvpn.com.crt but could not find vyprvpn.com.ovpn.

Is this the line to use?

sudo wget -O /boot/openvpn/ca.vyprvpn.com.crt http://www.giganews.com/vyprvpn/ca.vyprvpn.com.crt

Hey Reed,

I'm using the Giganews VyprVPn and other that the issues mentioned earlier I've had no problems connecting to the vpn, I copied the ca.vyprvpn.com.crt file and I choose the eu1.vpn.giganews.com.ovpn to flash\openvpn or boot\openvpn depending on how your accessing it, enable the plugin from the "ServerName"/Settings page from the web browser (Enter your Giganews User name and password) and everything works.

I'm sure you are already aware but the VyprVPN files can be downloaded from here:

160-Bit (Fastest) encryption http://www.giganews.com/vyprvpn/openvpn-windows-conf.zip

or

256-Bit (Best Encryption) http://www.giganews.com/vyprvpn/openvpn-windows-conf-best-encryption.zip

The only thing that I cannot get to work is getting it to connect on restarting the Server, I'm still having to go into the settings Changing it to Disabled, Saving it and then re enabling and saving again for OpenVPN to do its stuff.

Regards

@EddCase

Can you try version 2.1.3 and see if its OK?

//Peter

Just trying it now, will get back to you shortly

Edd

@EddCase

You are a real life saver. Looked everywhere even asked online support. I set up an Ubuntu virtual machine but had not successfully finished setting vyprvpn on it yet. Thanks much!!!

Reed

@Reed You are very much welcome, I wonder as you are also using VyperVPN do you get the same issues as me when you restart unRAID?

@Peter

Still no joy I'm afraid, however I do like the new layout of the plugin, when I set enabled back to No I got this message

Warning: file(/tmp/openvpn/openvpn.out): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/openvpn/openvpn.php on line 12 Warning: implode(): Argument must be an array in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/openvpn/openvpn.php on line 13

I'm so sorry my linux skill are next to non existent, I really wish I could help work out what my machine is doing, I'm assuming its not happening to anyone else, annother thing I noticed today was at some point OpenVPN had disconnected but was still showing as connected in the settings panel, the only way I could tell was the ip address had changed back to my local one

Thanks again for your time,

Edd

On system reboot I also get:

Warning: file(/tmp/openvpn/openvpn.out): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/openvpn/openvpn.php on line 12 Warning: implode(): Argument must be an array in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/openvpn/openvpn.php on line 13

Loads fine from settings page. I am running Rc3.

  Edd I do no think it is your hardware. We are all waiting for a real plugin manager so things can load the way they are intended, at this point it is hard to know when things are ready.

Is that messages new on 2.1.3 or did you have it on 2.1.2 also ?

Good Morning Peter,

That message has been in the since version 2.0.9 at least, I think I posted it in one of my original messages, however I cannot remember specifically version 2.1.2, i'll re install it later, and let you know.

This happens is when you reboot the server and have OpenVPN enabled? and after reboot you need to disable then enable again? is that right ?

//Peter

Yes that is correct, I haven't had a chance to reinstall 2.1.2 yet, so I can't say if this was definitely happening in that version too.

I'm going to fix this so it's disabled after a reboot..........  ;)

In the mean time, you know howe to use it  ;)

//Peter

Please try version 2.1.3, and see if it works after a reboot?

Hi Peter,

First off, thankyou for taking the time to do this. im sure im speaking for alot of people when i say that!

small niggle for me so far thats been present since the start... VPN seems to be cutting off after a couple of hours after connecting. Error at the end of the log is:

ERROR: could not read Auth username from stdin

Like i said, VPN is connecting fine and routing traffic in the first instance but doesn't reconnect if the connection is lost.

Mark

Peter, I followed your procedure and installed Open VPN client, with anonine certificates. But when I enable Open VPN client it is not starting. Gives an error for fraction of a second that I could not even read it, says something like, an error has occurred, something has gone wrong probably in your account." and then "Enable open VPN client reverts back to "NO"

Kindly assist.

Last few entries in the log file  ..

Hi, I dont think this is posible right now, so if the tunnel have disconnected, the plugin don't automatic try to reconnect

Hi Sammy,

You can't do that with a OpenVPN client, but look here ->  http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=15674.0

Might be a solution for you

Can you try this? edit your ovpn file , got this from a forum

try to uncomment persist-tun.

I have this configuration on my computer, and it can reconnect after the connection is lost.

keepalive 3 10

on all clients.conf, not only in the server.conf. it WORKS !!

(done with version 2.x of openvpn)/quote]

Anonymous Surfing

You got a different( Anonymous) IP adress instead of your original one, good when torrenting och DL stuff, or from example usenet.

EDIT

You might looking to set up a Open VPN server, I have it on my DD-WRT router, then I can login to my home network from the outside.
