[7.0.0] No Boot -"Waiting up to 30 sec for device with label UNRAID to come online" error -Too Many SCSI Drives? Workaround but not a fix.

Featured Replies

Using Terramaster and new 7.0.1 imaged via the creator v.1.0.1 and I have this issue when booting with no GUI. If I opt for GUI it boots.
I have tested with 2 USB drives

Unless you are running Unraid as a VM you are in the wrong subforum.

Thanks, I figured with it just being the driver change from the v6 then it would be related regardless of underlying infrastucture. I will look for another thread under the right sub.

I manage to boot till scsi14, if I try to add the last three disks I get the UNRAID label error.

I also can confirm pause and stop vm and changing virtual machine type to i440fx and back again to q35 let me boot normally with scsi14 only added again with no need to downgrade to versions 6. I useProxmox 8.4.1

Also booting with or without GUI did not have any effect in my case regarding the error.

The output you posted shows more than 12.

scsi14: /dev/disk/by-id/ata-TOSHIBA_MG10ACA20TE_Z4L0A09GF4MJ,aio=threads,backup=0,cache=writeback

#scsi17: /dev/disk/by-id/ata-TOSHIBA_MG10ACA20TE_Z4L0A0C1F4MJ,aio=threads,backup=0,cache=writeback

These are the new ones, never had this issue before, last 3 ones are commented, cannot use them and boot cause this issue. I expected to use 8 new ones with this hba but I'll passthrough the hba instead. Just posted to add more info.

I'm getting this "waiting up to 30 sec for device with label UNRAID to come online" thing too. I only have 3 drives though, so an 8 drive limit shouldn't affect anything, plus I get it even when no drives are passed through except USB. I've tried passing through the USB device every possible way including passing through the whole controller and can't get past this. Unraid boots just fine if I start it on bare metal.

"waiting up to 30 sec for boot device(s) to come online"

"waiting up to 30 sec for boot device(s) to come online"

"waiting up to 30 sec for boot device(s) to come online"

I'm now getting the "waiting up to 30 sec for device with label UNRAID to come online" where the boot process stops.

Booting from 7.3.0-beta.2 installed on internal NVME drive (16 GB partition). The license was looking to the USB Stick GUID (contains the earlier Unraid 6.x.x).

I had been running Unraid 7.3.0-beta.2 installed on the internal NVME drive (not dedicated to OS... one other data partition) for several days without issue.

The problem occurred shortly after I attempted to move the license registration from the USB stick to the Internal TPM 2.0 module. The attempt failed with the message:

Server checks

• ENABLE_BOOT_TRANSFER_DISABLED Boot transfer is disabled by the current system state.

• BOOT_ELIGIBLE_FALSE The system reported that storage boot is not eligible.

Now trying to boot from the NVME partition, NOT successful. Boot process can't get beyond:

"waiting up to 30 sec for boot device(s) to come online"

"waiting up to 30 sec for boot device(s) to come online"

"waiting up to 30 sec for boot device(s) to come online"

Frustrating. Troubleshooting steps tried:

• Switch USB Ports: Use a USB 2.0 port rather than USB 3.0/3.1. USB 2.0 ports are generally more reliable for the early boot stages of Unraid.

• Disable Fast Boot & Secure Boot: Enter your BIOS/UEFI settings and ensure Fast Boot and Secure Boot are disabled. These settings can prevent the kernel from properly handshaking with the USB device.

• Check UEFI/Legacy Mode.

Still no success. It looks like this will require a bit more troubleshooting time and effort. I will continue to scan the forum for quick/simple solutions.

Are you virtualizing Unraid? If not, this thread is about that. Also, does it boot from a flash drive?

I successfully:

• created a new USB boot (Unraid7.3.0-beta.2)

• downloaded config backup from Unraid Connect (excellent feature/service!)

• copied /config backup to new USB boot (delete key files from /config)

• successfully booted from USB drive (seeing all expected storage devices)

• checked Unraid registration/license. Unraid Pro registration/license appears to be configured okay! And, now referencing TPM (no longer referencing USB Drive GUID).

• Usual plug-ins and services all appear running oaky (array starts , docker service and docker containers running fine , Plex Media Server, Tautulli etc... all running okay.

I'm happy to be up and running again. I might defer switching boot to the internal NVME drive pending further testing. Sorry to crash this forum thread with my slightly off-topic panic (quick scan suggested it might be a closely related issue). Bye for now. Thanks.
