January 19, 20251 yr With the release of version 7 bringing zfs pools a bit more "main stream", I'm considering making it the primary storage type on a business file server. However, I still have a couple questions I can't find the answer to: 1. Given that zfs uses arc caching, is a cache pool of SSDs still the necessary performance gain for HHDs that it was when using an array? 2. Historically, the unraid array saw no appreciable benefit from using SAS HHDs over SATA. Is that still the case with zfs? Thanks in advance for any guidance.
