[SOLVED] moving from unraid 4.7 to 5.0b11

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a total disaster situation and i am really angry with my unraid. So, I want to try a different approach an try to set up everything new from scratch again, but this time starting from a clean 5.0b11 install (rather then upgrading from 4.7 to 5.0b11).

I will install my new 5.0b11 unraid using a new parity drive (disk1) and 1 more data hdd (disk2). Then I will disconnect one by one the old hdd´s from my old unraid v4.7, and connect them to my new 5.ab11 unraid. In this example, I would connect the first disk that comes from unraid 4.7 into 5.0b11, not add it yet to the array, and use SNAP to copy all the files to the new array. After copying all the files to the 5.0b11 array, i will add it to 5.0b11 array as disk3. Is this possible?

Rgds.

Hi, you mean connect all the other drives at the same time to my new 5.0b11 unraid?

I would do it that way as well and use SNAP to copy 1 drive at a time adding to the array as you go (although you may want to run a pre-clear on each of the old drives once you have copied the files and verified them.  That way you are sure the drives are healthy before adding to your new unraid).

yes, only have to shut down and reboot once.
