April 8, 201214 yr i have a user share called "TV Shows" it used to just span disk 19 (2TB) and disk 20 (2TB), but they were getting filled up (actually they are full) so i set the share to include disk 16 (3TB), but when i ask the mover to move the files from the cache to the share, it doesn't. there is a folder on disk 16 called "TV Shows", but the only think in it are the files i manually moved there. i just noticed that the folders are only on one of the drives (all of the seasons for a particular show are on one of the drives, but none are on all). is this because of the split leve? it was set to 1, not i set it to 2 and invoked the mover. i will wait to see what happens. if this is wrong, please correct me. thank you christopher
April 9, 201214 yr Author i tried split level 2 and split level 3, i still don't get the files to move from the cache to the share. i appreciate any help. christopher
April 9, 201214 yr Post a syslog. Post the full share settings and the directory/file structure of the share while you're at it. Otherwise, you're expecting people to guess at how your system is set-up and how you are storing the data.
April 10, 201214 yr Author here is a screenshot of my share setup. disk excluded are everyone except disk 16, disk 19 and disk 20
April 10, 201214 yr it is not "Disk 20" it is "disk20"!! do not add any spaces in the line where you specify include and exclude disks.
April 10, 201214 yr Author alright, i will try that. i was not typing in the disk numbers though, i was using the check boxes.

April 10, 201214 yr Author i opened up my .cfg file for the user share and this is what is says # Generated settings: shareComment="" shareInclude="disk16,disk19,disk20" shareExclude="disk1,disk2,disk3,disk4,disk5,disk6,disk7,disk8,disk9,disk10,disk11,disk12,disk13,disk14,disk15,disk17,disk18" shareUseCache="yes" shareAllocator="highwater" shareSplitLevel="3" shareFloor="10GB" shareExport="e" shareSecurity="public" shareReadList="" shareWriteList="" shareExportNFS="-" shareExportNFSFsid="0" shareSecurityNFS="public" shareHostListNFS="" shareExportAFP="e" shareSecurityAFP="public" shareReadListAFP="" shareWriteListAFP="" shareVolsizelimitAFP="" it shows the include as "disk16,disk19, disk20 is there something else i should be looking for? thanks
April 11, 201214 yr The log shows a lot of duplicate files. Turn on disk shares and remove the duplicates.
April 11, 201214 yr The labels for the dropdown menu disks are for looking pretty and ease of use, still provides the correct values for the form.
April 12, 201214 yr Author ok, i think i figured it out. there was no problem with "simple features" (which i didn't think there was, but i had to start somewhere). here is what i think happened. i originally had my split level at 1, so it would keep all the files and subfolders on the same drive. when i added a new drive to the share, i didn't add any new shows so it kept trying to put the new episodes on the full drives. i do not know why it didn't create new folders when i changed the split level to 2 or 3, but it didn't. what i ended up doing was moving some of the shows (mainly the ones that are still active) manually onto the new disk. now the mover is working fine. thanks for the help.
