Help with Best Practices for Configuring Unraid on My Zima Cube Pro

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Zima Cube Pro along with an Unraid lifetime license. While I have a solid background in RAID, ZFS, Linux, and networking, I’m finding it a bit challenging to understand how Unraid works, especially regarding the best practices for setting up and managing my system.

Here’s the configuration of my Zima Cube Pro:

• CPU: 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1235U @ 3465 MHz

• Memory: 64 GiB DDR5

• Storage:

• 6 x 18 TB HDD

• 4 x 1 TB Gen 3 SSD

• 1 x 4 TB Gen 4 SSD (attached to the motherboard)

I’ve managed to create an “Array” with two parity disks, but I’m open to suggestions if there’s a better way to set this up based on my hardware. I want to configure this system as efficiently as possible to maximize storage performance and reliability.

A couple of issues I’m currently facing:

1. After restarting the device, the “Array” status shows as “Stopped,” and I can’t find a clear option to manually start it. I know there’s an option in the settings to “Enable auto start: yes,” but shouldn’t there also be a manual “Start the Array” button somewhere?

2. I’ve found the Unraid documentation to be difficult to follow, which has made troubleshooting and learning Unraid quite frustrating.

I’m sincerely asking for help with:

• Best practices for configuring Unraid on this hardware.

• Optimizing the use of my drives (parity, cache, etc.).

• Any advice on improving my workflow or understanding Unraid’s interface and concepts.

Thank you in advance for your guidance and tips!

This is at the bottom of the Main tab.

Since you reported that moderator's post to the moderators, you apparently are still having a problem.

Post a screenshot of Main - Array Operations.

It's intersting what I asked and what a moderator response to it!

Is this: "This is at the bottom of the Main tab." is the answer to the "Help with Best Practices for Configuring Unraid on My Zima Cube Pro" question?

Honestly, when will the forums be useful?

If you read the response it explicitly said it was a response to where the Start button (that you said you cannot find) is located.

This is one of the best forums I have ever seen. Lots of people trying to help, usually very friendly.

Did you ever find that Start button?
