I have been running my unraid system for quite some time on 4.5.3.  It does everything I want and works extremely well.  I average about 1 crash every 6 weeks or so and I am not a savy enough Linux person to figure out what is doing it.  It has never happened while streaming a movie from it, but happens only (as far as I can tell) whem I am writing to a drive from several places at the same time copying files. I have stopped doing that; easy solution!.  When it crashes I just resatrt it. It comes back up flawlessly and states there are no parity problems after the parity check finishes (about 20 hours).

Bottom line, there is no pressing reason for me to move to version 5 other then I don't like being very far behind, and I understand it is faster. I use Shares,  unMenu and a couple of Bash scripts I have written, not much else.  I load to specific disks so there are no balancing issues.  Hardware is solid. I have no test rig to play with a new version; and although I have all my DVD's and BR disks, I really dread having to reload them.

Is there a tutorial that discusses migrating from 4.5.3 to 5.x? If so, where is it so I can read it.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

TIA Barry

I would suggest migrating to 4.7 first. make sure that is stable before going past that.

The upgrade instructions require upgrading to 4.7 before going to 5.
