April 9, 201214 yr First my build..... Super Micro C2SEA motherboard ICY Dock 5 in 3 drive bay x 2 (10 bays total) Several WD Green hard drives (1TB and 2TB) I just recently purchased a 2TB Seagate and a 3TB Seagate and RMA'd a failed WD Green 2TB. I slotted the Seagate 2TB and reconstructed the failed drive. It still showed unformatted so I had to use reiserfsck --scan-whole-partition to rebuild the file structure manually. Somehow since doing the recovery my Seagate drive shows amber when idle instead of green like the WDs. It also shows green when reading and amber when writing. Is this normal for Seagate drives with ICY DOCK bays and this motherboard. I used parts recommended on the website, so I am hoping many others have a similar build and can provide insight as to how it should be working and possibly a resolution. Thanks to everyone for the help....
May 8, 201214 yr That's what the motherboard manual is there for. White stripes usually means negative, so you would connect it so that the white cable goes to the pin with the red and white stripes, and the red cable goes to the red pin. It doesn't matter if I'm wrong, because connecting an led strip lighting with the wrong polarity will not break the led strip lighting outdoor or the motherboard, It just won't light up - then you know to swap it around. You could even do it while the PC is turned on if you are careful not to touch any other components. Red (or otherwise colored) wires are positive, white (or black) wires are negative when polarity is involved. Put the red wire on the pin with a white "+" on it (indicating positive), and the white wire to the solid red pin. Not obvious, I agree, but getting the polarity wrong on 12v led light bars is no big deal. They simply won't work until the pins are properly set; there will be no damage to the LED or the motherboard if you get them backwards.
May 8, 201214 yr I too have a Icydock & I recently purchased a 2TB Seagate drive and have the same issue with the amber light. The drive that I swapped out was a Seagate and the indicator lights were correct with it. Mine is currently a parity drive and I really don't know what to think of it with the amber light instead of green. It seams to flash green and amber when it goes thru the read/write states.

July 23, 201312 yr Sometimes, drive indicator lights are reversed on particular drives. I've had one in the past. The disk was fine otherwise.
July 23, 201312 yr Sometimes, drive indicator lights are reversed on particular drives. I've had one in the past. The disk was fine otherwise. I've had this happen. Usually with newer drives in old docks. Never had an issue with the drives. Sent from my SGH-I727R using Tapatalk 2
July 24, 201312 yr I have some Seagate (ST3000DM001) drives which show the orange light on my IcyDocks all the time, I seem to remember you could flash the drives to fix it but I have never bothered. I Don't really like flashing things unless there is a functional problem.
