Assistance before upgrading to V7

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I have yet to pull the trigger on unraid 7, but i really really want to.  However, I've heard some people mention that if youre using ZFS, then dont upgrade (yet).

I've done some research myself, but cant find any use cases that seem to match my set up, so I figured I'd come here to see if anyone can give me the all clear before going ahead.

So here's my setup:

  • 5 HDD Array disks + 1 Parity - 3x10TB + 2 x 3TB - all formatted in ZFS
  • 1 SSD drive in a pool - 1TB - formatted with ZFS
    • Stores appdata and other latency sensitive stuff
  • 2 HDDs in another pool - 2x3TB - Formatted with ZFS raid 0
    • Essentially a HDD cache, used to store commonly accessed things that arent as latency sensitive.

I make use of datasets across all drives

If any other info is needed, please let me know, and thank you for your time.

There's no reason for this, but you may want to not upgrade the zfs pools initially, in case you want to downgrade.

Thanks for your response.

Could you explain what you mean by “upgrade the zfs pools”?

thanks!
