Dual Parity to Single Parity

Featured Replies

My current config has dual Parity a 10TB drive in Parity 1 and a 20TB in Parity 2, I would like to move to a single parity with the 20TB.  Is just removing the 10TB drive from Parity 1 slot or is there more involved?

This is all that is needed.

Note that the parity2 has to stay in that position as moving it to parity 1 would require parity to be rebuilt.

I could then use Parity 1 slot as a data drive?  My goal is to replace 6 aging drives with three 20tb drives in my array.  I've got 8 ports for SATA drives and currently all 8 are in use, going to 1 parity frees up a slot and will allow me to migrate data off the old drives.

Yes, after you start the array once without it.
