unRAID 7 WebUI dashboard slow to load (few seconds)

Featured Replies

I tried searching but couldn’t find this specific issue addressed. After upgrading from unRAID 6 to 7 a few weeks ago, I’ve noticed that the Dashboard in the WebUI takes a few seconds to load, whereas it used to load instantly in unRAID 6. All other tabs (except for Community Applications, which I understand might have its own delays) load quickly.

Specifically, when switching back to the Dashboard from tabs like Main or Settings, there’s a noticeable delay before the page fully populates. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, are there any known fixes or suggestions to resolve it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Same here. Not only that I get blank pages when trying to access logs/terminal via WebGUI often (not always), having to SSH each time instead to do something quick.

Do you see the same in safe mode?

I've just now ended up reverting back to v6 so I can't check if that's the case anymore. I've had too many issues with v7 atm, lagging interface, constant spamming about DHCP

A kernel panic (never had one for 2 years of running Unraid v6) and my docker containers just disappearing on the network with only fix is to restart the server.

In the past week I've restarted my server almost daily, something that I didn't need to do with previous version so I just decided I don't have time to spend debugging things each day and rather revert back to last known working version at this time. Maybe I will wait for point release 7.0.1 or minor patch 7.1 before trying again.

Yes I tested this on the weekend, loaded safe mode no plugins etc same behavior. Tested with array fully stopped, docker off as well no change.

Try just enabling half of the tiles you have on the dash, if the same, try the other half, to see if the problem is caused by a specific tile

I probably should have added this in my first post as well. This was one of the very first things I actually tried when I noticed there was lagging on the Dashboard page. With nothing turned on it still takes a couple of seconds for the page to load. All of the other tabs are instant (apart from CA) Bit of a strange one, as I never had this issue in on the previous version.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce, and have no more ideas.

Ok well I guess rolling back to v6 is on the cards to go back to having a good user experience.

Thanks.

If you have a chance, try booting with a new flash drive using a stock v7.0.0 install, no key needed, then boot and test the dash, that will confirm if the issue is your current config or not.

Sounds similar to what I've noticed when accessing an Unraid 7 instance from a Windows 11 24H2 machine by server name. In the attached screenshots you can see that when using https://<name>.local in the browser, I had a latency of a few seconds on the initial redirect. Like you, my Dashboard and Main pages were also greatly affected. This was ALSO noticeable when accessing an SMB share from Windows Explorer using the \\<name> syntax.

If you instead access the server by IP address directly in both the browser (https://<ip address>) and in Windows Explorer(\\<ip address>), this initial lag does not occur. I've confirmed that changing browser does NOT make a difference. I noticed this happening immediately after I upgraded to 24H2, although I am not 100% certain that it did not happen before. Nevertheless, it seems the temporary solution if you had the same problem as me is to use IP address directly for now.

Same here. Short delay in the Dashbiard loading even using the ip address of the server.

I am running 7.1.2 - I have a delay in both my Main, and Dashboard (with all dockers and VMs switched off). Where array HDDs take 10-15seconds to show. If I got to update/uninstall a plugin; the popup shows immediately and no text shows.

Try booting in safe mode and/or using a different browser.

@JorgeB I rebooted into Safe Mode, and opened Edge and Chrome (default) side-by-side. The delay was apparent in Safe Mode in Chrome.

After updating Chrome via help > about, and relaunching - it looks like the problem has been corrected (in normal mode and with a couple of plugins reinstalled apart from Connect) everything is loading at the same speed as Edge.

Thank you for your help.

Immediately after saying this, I installed Connect, logged in - and I witnessed it crippling both browsers "connect icon said something like loading".

Removing it again I have it functioning as expected. That plugin I think I am leaving off for now.

Fault finding for me looked like this (may help others):

(1) Try another browser side by side and compare.

(2) Update affected browser.

(3) Reboot to Safe Mode.

(4) Reboot to Normal.

(5) Disable Connect App if safe mode works.

This helped me with mine, loading the dashboard etc for Unraid was really slow, like 20 seconds to load the Dashboard tab, 30 seconds or more to load the Plugins tab, it's now down to less than 10 seconds to load the plugins tab, I have no idea if the number of plugins affects it but I have 16 installed currently.

This was typically caused by older Connect plugin releases; the current release should be OK.

Same here. with 7.2.4. No Connect Plugin that I can see. Happens in safe mode as well. I can see the delay in developer mode as well where it's seconds instead of ms. I do not know of a workaround other than downgrading to 6.7.2 or in the surroundings.

Does it still happen if you boot with a different flash drive using a complety new install? No key needed

Yes it was. completely new install and I saw some slow down after couple of hours. I tried the governor settings, tried to remove any c states from bios, etc. I ended up "deciding" it was hardware related so I completely changed the hardware and it's night and day. I moved from a desktop i5-2500k with 16gb ddr3 ram, to a laptop i7-11850H and 64gb ram - no more slowdown.

I did save my diagnostics from when it was buggy/slow, at 1124am and after fresh reboot, 1130am. do you still want them?
