Need help. Ubuntu VM no Sound Output

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I am relatively new to Unraid and its ecosystem but eager to learn all its features. I need help setting up Ubuntu VM to output sound (either local or network stream). I'm running Unraid on a Dell Optiplex machine (has 3.5 mm audio jack). The purpose of this setup is to run an SDR (software define radio) piece of hardware. Naturally, hearing the spectrum requires audio output. When I installed Ubuntu LTS (latest version), I managed to get everything working except figure out how to output the sound out of the VM. In Ubuntu OS I see only Dummy output (no output anywhere). Under VM settings in (Unraid), when I select an audio card (to the internal one), I'm getting an "Execution Error" stating:

"internal error: QEMU unexpectedly closed the monitor (vm='Ubuntu'): qxl_send_events: spice-server bug: guest stopped, ignoring 2025-01-29T21:28:41.034670Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device {"driver":"vfio-pci","host":"0000:00:1f.3","id":"hostdev0","bus":"pci.0","addr":"0x5"}: vfio 0000:00:1f.3: group 9 is not viable Please ensure all devices within the iommu_group are bound to their vfio bus driver."

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I have attempted to install audio streaming software on the VM but have been unsuccessful in getting audio output. I will take any recommendations, suggestions or comments.

Thank you for your time!

What devices are in group 9?
