System crashing - not sure what the cause is

Featured Replies

I recently moved my Unraid server to a new system (Minisforum NAB9) and I'm getting frequent complete crashes of the system and I can't work out what the cause is. I've attached a recently syslog - can anyone help?

I've run memtest86 and found no issues.

Syslog is full of call traces, if the problem started after moving to new hardware it could be a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one, including the docker containers.

Getting this sort of error now: segfault at 80600570 ip 0000000080600570 sp 00007ffc66162f98 error 14 likely on CPU 6 (core 12, socket 0)

Another thing you can try, and since memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.
