Tailscale plugin version issue causing no access.

Featured Replies

I had an issue where where I could not access my Unraid server via tailscale. I was presented with the Unraid login screen but kept getting login error. Someone who i believe was the developer of the tailscale plugin was able to solve the problem by rolling back to version 1.78.

The problem is now when you go to use the tailscale option when setting up a docker container it automatically fetches version 1.8 which which results in not being able to connect to the container directly through tailscale. I also get no reference that Tailscale was added to the container in the form of any icon or tailscale option for web gui.

However I can access the container by adding the port number to the end of my tailnet ip for Unraid. this happens without adding the option in the container.

I assume you are also having the Tailscale plugin installed, is it possible that you connect through that to the container since you are using the Tailnet IP for Unraid.

This is the first time that I hear of this issue, over here I can connect fine to other machines who are on my Tailnet who are running on other Servers which are using the Unraid Tailscale Docker integration with v1.8.0:

The docker run command alongside container logs would be also be interesting since if the Tailscale logo doesn't show up for you on the Docker page it usually isn't enabled.

From what I can see the Tailscale plugin for Unraid is still on v1.8.0

The developer for the plugin rolled back to 1.78. But docker containers in unraid pulls down 1.8. My tailnet and other devices work fine with 1.8. Only my unraid is on 1.78. And i can connect by adding my ports to the end of my tailnet ip for unraid. I just cant install the plugin directly in a container.

This is from github for a workaround for 1.80 but i havent tried it.

I don't think the Unraid Tailscale Docker integration is affected by this since they mention only the Unraid WebUI is affected.

As I already asked above, do you have the docker run output and container logs?

Which container are you trying to add to your Tailnet?

BTW Do you have any Unifi network gear on your network?

I do not have unifi network gear. I will get the logs but I can tell you it pulls Tailscale 1.80. There have been multiple issues posted on Tailscale GitHub which I linked.

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for to help further and for the Unraid Tailscale Docker integration v1.8.0 should work fine.

Again, without logs and the docker run command I'm not able to help any further and why it is not working for you.

As you can see above it is working fine over here, if you even don't get the indicator on the Docker page when you enable the Tailscale toggle switch on the Docker page then there is something else wrong but I really can't tell without docker run and the container logs.

If you can't grab the full log you can open up a Unraid terminal and issue:

docker container logs <CONTAINERNAME> > /mnt/user/appdata/container.log

which will then save a file in your appdata directory named container.log, obviously you have to replace <CONTAINERNAME> with the name from the container that you want to grab the logs from.

i have a few containers running with 1.80, without problems.

also the tailscale plugin doesnt effected the tailscale docker integration.
