{SOLVED}ssmtp setup with unmenu

Featured Replies

trying to set up using pkg mgr and get the following:

mail and ssmtp - Configure unRAID to be able to send e-mail notifications via the "mail" command. Installed, but version is different.

Current version='/usr/sbin/ssmtp:' expected '2.62' (MD5 of existing downloaded file NOT matched - download may be corrupted or download URL no longer valid.)

Description: This package installs both mailx and ssmtp, a subset of "sendmail" needed to send alerts from the unRAID server

To test the basic configuration of ssmtp, type the following command:

echo -e "Subject: a test\n\nThis is the email body." | ssmtp -d root

Package URL: http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/s/ssmtp/ssmtp_2.62.orig.tar.gz

Package File: ssmtp_2.62.orig.tar.gz

Memory Usage: Light (10K to 500K)

Dependencies: Mail depends on ssmtp, a "sendmail" subset designed for outgoing mail only. "ssmtp" is part of this package.

unfortunately, ssmtp is only available as source code. Therefore, you will need to install the compiler and development tools

before you can install this package.

ssmtp depends on open-ssl to be able to securely communicate to mail servers on TLS connections.

when I press the download button again I get this:

Installed, but version is different.

Current version='/usr/sbin/ssmtp:' expected '2.62' (MD5 of existing downloaded file NOT matched - download may be corrupted or download URL no longer valid.)

Description: This package installs both mailx and ssmtp, a subset of "sendmail" needed to send alerts from the unRAID server

I see it says installed but version different and gives me no option to reinstall on reboot. I followed the guide in the wiki and tried a test message via a telnet session using putty and the results in the putty screen is "-bash: ssmtp: command not found"

When i click on the link http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/s/ssmtp/ssmtp_2.62.orig.tar.gz i get a 404 not found error.

I thought i followed all the steps and even tried a reboot, but i cant figure it out. Any guidance appreciated. i am still new at this and trying hard to learn as fast as I can.

You are getting the error because the file you are trying to download is no longer there.  (The site now hosts a newer version)

Nobody else has posted an updated .conf file, and I have not had the time to update it either.

I see. Thanks Joe for confirming its not me or my setup. Since I do not know how to update it myself, i guess I will do without until someone more knowledgeable [knows what they are doing] can update it.

i get stucked here too trying to figure ot what i've messed up this time  :o
