Restore unassigned disc

Featured Replies

I have an issue with my unraid.

One of my discs got disconnected. Now it is shown as unassigned:

Discs.PNG.aa7166112cd300990f0e796de9d9de2b.PNG

But it is still available:

UnassignedDisc.PNG.5cd3e89fff2a669c410395920698d7a6.PNG

If I reassign it, I get a message, that all data will be removed / overwritten once I start the array. So I didn't start the array.

How can I fix that the right way?

Disk was disabled, so it needs to be rebuilt, first start the array with disk1 still unassigned and post the diagnostics.

Emulated disk1 is mounting, assuming contents look correct, you can rebuild on top:

How do I know if contents are ok? I can't look into it, can I?

You can browse the emulated disk contests, but since it's btrfs, and as long as it mounts, it should be all fine.

I followed the instructions. I reassigned the drive as said in step 6.

But now it is saying: All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started

And next to the Start-Button it says:

Start will start Parity-Sync and/or Data-Rebuild.

Did I follow the right steps and can proceed with the start of the array?

Yes, that's normal, since the disk wil be rebuilt.
