New drive won't preclear or format

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a refurbished 12tb SeaGate hard drive to add to my Unraid server via an external HD dock. However, after a couple hours of reboots, attempted formatting and preclears, the drive still shows up as "Unmountable: Unsupported or no file system". I'm not seeing any errors in any of the logs to point me in any directions, though. Can anyone assist?

Difficult to say if it's just a USB or disk problem, try again with the disk in a SATA port.

I unfortunately don't have any SATA ports to test, this is in a NUC style mini PC. Is there any other way I can troubleshoot the USB enclosure?

Try using a different USB port, different cable, or failing that, a different enclosure, and note that USB is not recommended for Unraid.
