Moving file via "sparse" option is super slow (5 MB/s)

I am moving large files using Unraid GUI interface with the "sparse" option checked/enabled.

There performance of the transfer averages 5 MB/s, versus 90 MB/s without the "sparse" option checked.

 

Is 5 MB/s normal for "sparse" file copying/moving?  Why?
