Network card is not on gigabit speed

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new to Unraid, currently copying stuff from failing 8tb disk to new 12tb before adding the 2nd 12 tb parity drive and looking at the features while its going through rsync.

I noticed in the dashboard that the network is running only at 100mbit and not 1000.

It has 2 network cards: The build in one in the motherboard I am not using (r8169), and an intel (e1000e)

How do I make it use 1000mbit?

1G degrades to 100M when one of the signals is missing (plug, port, cable...)

Attach Diagnostics to your NEXT post in this thread.

You must have attached the file before download was complete, it has .crdownload extension.

Try again.

I was able to open it.

ethtool says Speed: 100Mb/s

Check ports, plugs, cables on server, switch, router. Make sure pins of all ports are not bent out-of-place. Try other ports.

You have 2 ethernet controllers on that server, have you tried both?

No I have not yet.
In the past (years ago) I learned that the intel nics are the only reliable ones to use on nas. So using the inferior built in nic has not even crossed my mind.

i will try and report back in an hour when I get back home.

I just wanted to circle back on this one and update - after I closed up the server and put it back in place, connecting with the original cable I used before (not the really long I used while disassembled and running - its now 1000 Mbps, full duplex, mtu 1500 :) so all good!

You are right, could be the cable plug..
