Crashes unknown reason for months

Featured Replies

My unraid server has been crashing sporadically over the last few months before and after recent 7 update. I've tried to understand what's going on using the logs to no avail. Hoping someone could take a look at the diagnostics and see if anything going on that I missed. The crashes seem to be random and I won't know about them until I try and use a service and I can't access the unraid GUI or other docker apps. I've tried to ssh  and tried to login using physical keyboard and monitor when this happens which doesn't help. I end up having to hard reset.

Feb 13 21:36:08 Mercury root: Fix Common Problems: Warning: Syslog mirrored to flash

Since you have syslog server setup, get it from your flash drive, zip it, and attach it to your NEXT post in this thread.

Sure, not sure if they're different from the ones included in the diagnostics.

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, there's nothing relevant logged, this can also be a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one, including the individual docker containers.

Additionally, look in the BIOS for a "Global C-States" or similar setting and disable that to retest, it's been known to be a problem with some boards, with both Intel and AMD CPUs.
