February 24, 20251 yr Hi, After changing motherboard and CPU everything was fine until I rebooted a few times, suddenly two of the drives, Parity 1 and disk 4 are showing as Parity Device is disabled and Device is disabled, Contents emulated respectively. I have swapped the drives around using different ports on the motherboard and different cables with no change. I have 2 new drives I can put in however would the data still be safe? Should I replace disk 4 and rebuild with one parity disk then replace the parity? Replace them both at the same time? Or something else? str8nas-diagnostics-20250224-1003.zip
February 24, 20251 yr Community Expert Diags are after rebooting so we can't see what happened, but both disks look healthy, and the emulated disk4 is mounting, assuming contents look correct, you can rebuild on top, and also sync parity at the same time: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/storage-management#rebuilding-a-drive-onto-itself
February 24, 20251 yr Author @JorgeB thank you, I have followed the steps you linked until point 6, but haven't restarted the array, is it correct that "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started", if this is the case is it rebuilding from parity 2 as parity 1 is also showing "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started" or do I need to do something else. If so can I replace disk4 with another drive before the rebuild as I want to swap it for a 8tb anyway or do I need to rebuild with the current disk4 and then swap it afterwords?
February 24, 20251 yr Community Expert You can replace disk4 and rebuild parity at the same time. Parity2 plus all other data disks are enough to rebuild both.
