February 26, 20251 yr Hi folks, I've got a long time running USB drive for Unraid that I boot infrequently. Today I tried to power the server up and it didn't boot. No matter what BIOS settings I configure it doesn't seem to want to boot. Plugging the drive into my windows host and running a quick drive check/repair shows no errors found. I'm not sure what to do now. The server has a lot of configuration/data on it and is also encrypted at rest. What can be done to recover from this without any data loss? Thanks
February 26, 20251 yr Community Expert Do you have a current backup of flash? The config folder from flash is all you need to get your configuration going again on a new install. See if you can get it going on the same flash drive so you won't have to transfer the license.
February 26, 20251 yr Sometimes I need to unplug the usb-stick from the port or pull the power plug to really reset the server (make sure to pres the power button to drain the last bit of power left in the ps so it's really off. After that it detects and boos as nothing has happened. I have a feeling this started with Unraid 7. Sometimes also having trouble reading some of my ttyUSB-dongles after fresh reboot too, like the ones I use for my home automation. Edited February 26, 20251 yr by Niklas

It can get very confusing to try to support multiple users who think they have similar problems. Often different solutions might be needed, and we don't want anyone following advice intended for someone else. Thanks

It's just what helped me in the same position and I can't see the harm in just trying it out I guess. Edited February 26, 20251 yr by Niklas
